producing
I formed my own company in 2000 in order to be able to create and find partners for unique and individual works, including music theatre projects and radio plays. The confidence and range of the company’s output has grown from a small music theatre performance of Deirdre Gribbin’s accordion based music theatre creation According To (2001) to a national tour, including the South Bank Centre, London, of The Venus Blazing Tour, a vast and spectacular performance which included a full chamber orchestra (The Britten Sinfonia), a leading European violinist (Ernst Kovacic) and conductor (Pierre Andre Valade), and Emmy Award winning pop music lighting specialist Jeff Ravitz.
Production work for radio has grown from a well-received 45 minute feature for BBC Radio’s Between the Ears slot (My Month With Carmen by Lou Stein) to an epic 90 minute production of Sandor Marai’s best selling novel “Embers”, starring Patrick Stewart.
presentation skills
I strongly believe that the theatre has a lot to offer the business community at a time when global communication effectiveness and understanding is so important. By using the basic principles of body and voice awareness and role-playing exercises, workers, managers, and executives can develop an important confidence in their own ability to get their messages across. There are also important lessons to be learned by the corporate sector about how to get a team moving in the same direction and working with each other respectfully and enthusiastically, which is what good play direction is all about. Useful knowledge transfer from theatre rehearsal techniques to corporate coaching and training is very direct.
